Vegan Hot Dogs, yes please |
Sometimes the best lain plans still go awry. Sometimes you have to go out with the wife to a town that has no Ramen places anywhere near the show. Sometimes everyone wants to eat at a restaurant that doesn't have any Ramen type items and you have to order something off diet. You cannot kick yourself in the ass over it you have to go with the flow.
The day started normally with some juice and coffee for breakfast. Again I wasn't hungry until lunch time due to the Ramen effect. Come lunch time I made a new type of Ramen. There was no readable brand name so will just call this pickle flavored Ramen. I was a little worried about this one. I was hoping it would be tasty and I would be surprised but it was fairly bland.

The instructions were a all pictures so I guessed at how to cook this. It turned out fine but the rice noodles were pretty hard to eat with chopsticks. They slid right through my chopsticks and it took my over 30 min to finish my lunch.

What does that say? |

Lunch with the rice noodles |
The packets it came with were hard to define which added to my skepticism but I just dumped it all in and went to town. If it was nasty I would just toss it out. It was fine but the little beans were a bit weird.

Are those beans? |
After lunch I had to go grocery shopping. I stopped first at the 99 Ranch market and I have to say I love this place. The produce is always so cheap! They have a tons of selection and the people are always super nice.

This is only one example of why I love 99 Ranch. |
After shopping my wife and I planned a trip to see one of our favorite bands play,
The Radioactive Chicken Heads. They were holding their 20th anniversary show with tons of bands from 2pm-12am. This show was amazing and the mix of bands was so good that I have to say it was one of the best shows I've been to in awhile. The problem for me was at dinner time there was nary a Ramen place to be had. No one was about to drive me to a restaurant and miss some bands so I was at the will of the people I was with, which meant "Is it across the street? Then we're going to that place."
So even if my plan was to hit a local Ramen shop I had to give in and go where the group was going or walk away and hike a few miles. We ended up across the street at
Links, a local hot doggery. My motto has always been, if they have vegan hot dogs then I'm ordering vegan hot dogs. You can't find these things very often and when you find a pearl you harvest a pearl.

Vegan hot dog Sicilian style and tiny fries with honey mustard |
The hot dog was pretty good. I regretted not getting a normal dog but only because I wanted some more sour mustard flavor. I got my mustard fix from the dipping sauce that I ordered with my fries. I do have to say that the portion of fries at this place was a joke, even for a small order. It worked out for me though since I need to lay off this kind of food and this was impromptu anyway. I washed the whole thing down with a Dad's rootbeer since they didn't have tea and chalked it all up to not being prepared. I should have made a thermos of Ramen and will remember for the future to do so.

The show ended at 12:15 and we got in bed by 1:30am. I had to get up early for work and I feel like shit today. I think these late shows are starting to be outside of my age bracket. That or someone needs to start paying me for work that doesn't require an early start.
I hope you enjoyed the blog. Let me know what you stay up late for and what you do when you don't have any options but still need to eat. Thanks for checking in!
