Day 2 - I Need Some Water!

Authentic Japanese Ramen house in Little Tokyo Los Angeles (Thanks Rosie!)
After only one day of eating Ramen I feel all dried out from the salt. I will have to start looking into some healthier home made Ramen recipes. I do like the broth from the vegetables that I put in yesterday but I feel like I need to add a little something. If I find some good ones I will post the links. For now the packets will have to do even though I only add a slight sprinkling. I just need to remember to keep drinking tons of water to stay hydrated.

This morning I was still full from dinner the night before. I don't know if it's the noodles, or all the water, or the MSG, but I was not very hungry at all. I decided to have some juice for breakfast and forgo the Ramen. I think juice is ok in the control I setup for myself and I am adding it to the approved foods list. I make my wife some juice every morning for when she wakes up so I just had some left over juice and coffee for breakfast today.

I drove out to Marina Del Ray today for some business so on my way back I decided to stop at Little Tokyo in downtown Los Angeles. There are a ton of restaurants that show up on Yelp when you search for Ramen in Little Tokyo so I was unsure what I should pick. I was going to choose Mr. Ramen since they mentioned having a vegetarian menu but my friend Rosie suggested Men Oh. They have a very small menu and one Ramen for vegetarians. I got a bowl of the regular pork stuff for my daughter to take home and they were nice enough to give it to me. They told me they usually don't offer take out but since this was my first time and I was the first customer of the day the would make an exception.

Simple one page menu, love it!

The vegetarian Ramen was SOOOOO GOOD! It had lots of ginger in it and was not overly salty like the packaged MSG stuff I had eaten the day before. The veggies were super tasty and the water was good. In LA the water is never good so you can tell when restaurants use filters and I appreciate that a lot. The whole bowl was great and just the right amount of filling to hold me until dinner. My daughter liked her bowl as well but did not like the soy sauce soaked egg that was in it because it was too salty.

Very good Ramen from Men Oh. Vegetarian Bowl
For dinner I decided to use the healthy Ramen I got at Sprouts. I added a ton of veggies and a spoon of chili sauce for a little kick. I added cabbage and I loved it. I found myself missing the ginger from this afternoon in Little Tokyo. The packet in the Annie Chun's was a goop and not powder and barely registered with my pallet. I was glad to not have so much salt in this one. The noodles were also fresh noodles and not dried which was very tasty.

Healthy Ramen
Baby boc choy and green onions, just a few of the veggies I used.
Good day today. I really wish we had a Ramen shop out here where I live in the middle of nowhere. The closest thing we have are the Asian restaurants in my area that have noodles, but nothing like they had in LA. I have to keep reminding myself to drink water. My lips feel like I've been swimming in the ocean all day.

Thanks for checking in. Tell a friend and comment below with any suggestions or ideas. I have 28 more days so I could use the help.
